Mills Pond Recreation Area
Located in North Austin, Mills Pond Recreation Area is a great place to go for a day of nature and fun. The park is 1.5 miles from Wells Branch and offers walking trails, a boat dock, and fishing. Mills Pond is also home to the Saline Celtic Festival each July. Visitors can attend the festival for free and enjoy a variety of activities. Other events include Movies in the Park, which feature movies shown on a twenty-foot inflatable screen. Kids can also participate in events like the Mini Mastodon, a youth fun run. In the summer, Mills Pond also holds Rec on the Go, an event aimed at families.
Mill Pond Park opened in 2009. It features 16-Deco Turf tennis courts that have the same surfaces used in the U.S. Open and Olympic Games.
