Round Rock is a city near Austin, Texas that is known for its outdoor activities. Its name comes from a large rock located in Brushy Creek, marking a low-water crossing spot for wagons in the 19th century. The city has several parks and recreation areas, including Chisholm Trail Crossing Park, which features plaques that tell the city’s cattle-driving history. Other parks in the city include Old Settlers Park, which has baseball fields, playgrounds, disc golf, and a fish-stocked lake.

Eighty-four percent said they felt safe in the city’s parks. Residents also enjoy one of the lowest property tax rates in Central Texas. Additionally, residents report being satisfied with Round Rock’s utility services eighty percent of the time.

As the self-proclaimed “Sports Capital of Texas”, Round Rock has been dedicated to improving its athletic endeavors. Its Triple-A baseball team, the Round Rock Express, is celebrating its 20th season, and the city’s multi-purpose complex is home to national tournaments in rugby, lacrosse, and ultimate Frisbee. In addition to sports facilities, Round Rock boasts miles of nature trails that are ideal for hiking or biking.

The Round Rock downtown area offers a wide range of dining options. Local restaurants offer fresh, farm-to-table fare and cheers-worthy drinks. The downtown area is also an ideal spot for a date night or play-date with the kids. It’s also home to the Round Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, where visitors can get useful information.

For shopping enthusiasts, Round Rock boasts a large outdoor mall called the Round Rock Premium outlets, where you can find more than 125 outlet stores. The outlet center also offers lunch. IKEA, the iconic furniture store, is also located here. Round Rock is a charming city 20 miles north of Austin.

The Round Rock ISD’s Board of Trustees has begun work on developing and adopting student outcome goals. The Board is using the Lone Star Governance (LSG) model in its process to establish five-year goals, progress measures, and constraint-based goals. More here. If you’re visiting Round Rock, Texas, you’ll want to make sure that you have access to transportation. The Austin-Round Rock area is home to several hospitals and medical facilities.
