Bull Creek District Park
A 48-acre city park in Austin, Texas, Bull Creek District Park is a popular destination for outdoor activities. It is located at 6701 Lakewood Dr, Austin, TX 78731. Originally created in 1971, the park is named after the stream that runs through it. Many locals and visitors enjoy fishing, hiking, and swimming here. The park features mature oak trees and plenty of seating. There is also a volleyball court and a grassy field for Frisbee throwing. It’s not stroller-friendly, but the grassy area is safe for children to run around. Restrooms and water fountains are nearby. Bull Creek District Park is located off Lakewood Drive. It’s part of the Bull Creek Lower Greenbelt. Dog owners can walk their dogs here while on a leash. You can also take your dog for a stroll along the fern grotto or check out the wagon tracks, which date back to the 1800s when the creekbed served as a “commerce highway”.
The park also has several hiking trails that you can enjoy. The trailhead for the Inga Van Nynatten Memorial Trail is located here. This trail honors a local woman who died of breast cancer at age 30. The limestone bed of the creek is also a great place to see wagon tracks dating back to the 1800s, when the creek bed was used as a highway by early settlers.
The park is well-maintained by the Austin Parks Foundation. It features two playscapes and a large covered pavilion. The park is free to visit and use, but there is a fee for camping and fishing.
